Snowflake Unveils AI-Driven Data Governance Enhancements

Snowflake’s Summit 2025 unveiled “Standard Warehouse – Generation 2” (Gen2) and “Adaptive Compute,” innovations aimed at turbocharging analytics workloads and automating resource management. Gen2 delivers up to 2.1× faster performance on core analytics compared to previous warehouses, while Adaptive Compute dynamically right-sizes resources and routes queries, freeing teams from manual tuning and driving better price-performance. Beyond compute, Snowflake introduced AI-powered governance tools in its Horizon Catalog: Copilot for Horizon Catalog offers an LLM-driven chat interface for governance and security questions, and AI-led monitoring surfaces anomalies in data usage and policy violations. New Catalog-Linked Databases sync Apache Iceberg objects across catalogs, extending governance and discovery to multi-engine environments. These features aim to make compliance, data discovery, and incident response more intuitive—no SQL required—while immutable Snapshots support point-in-time recovery for regulatory and cyber-resilience needs. Snowflake positions these capabilities as foundational for businesses racing to innovate with AI, enabling faster insights, stronger trust, and seamless governance at scale snowflake.com.
